Yet another star has fallen as former Shooting Star and Cup Winners’ hero, Philip Boamah dies

Yet another member of the historic IICC Shooting Stars squad of 1976, Philip Boamah has died. The former speedy right winger whose goal in the first leg of the final match of the African Winners Cup against Cameroon’s Tonnrre contributed to IICC winning the first continental trophy for Nigeria.

 

He died on Thursday at the  University College Hospital, Ibadan. With his death, more than half of the IICC squad of 1976 have passed on. The entire defence line comprising Best Ogedegbe, Joe Appiah,  Sam Ojebode, Muda Lawal and Folorunsho Gambari have all gone into eternity.

 

Gone in the forward line are Kunle Awesu and Moses Otolorin.
