Remo Stars of Ikenne have jumped into the top of the ladder in Group A of the Nigeria Premier Football League after overcoming tough resistance from visiting Shooting Stars of Ibadan to get a 2-0 win.

Poor Gbenga Ogunbote! The last time he was at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, he was in the victorious Remo Stars who beat Niger Tornadoes 3-0. he has since moved to Ibadan and was on the losing side.

After a goalless first half which domination was evenly shared by the two teams, Remo Stars came into the second half as the stronger side.

Pilling pressure upon pressure, they eventually got the opener in the 60th minute when lanky Andy Okpe rounded off two Shooting Stars defenders before laying a low pass that a defender, Alex Aghahowa inadvertently scrambled into his own net.

Substitute player, Godwin Odibo took the match beyond Shooting Stars with a second goal in the 70th minute.

Remo Stars have now overtaking Bendel Insurance at the top of the Group A log. Both are tied on 9 points from three matches, but Remo Stars have a better goal aggregate.
