Remo Stars on Wednesday made a bold statement about their dominance of the South West after a 3-0 defeat of Shooting Stars in Ikenne. It is the biggest defeat Remo Stars ever inflicted on their Western rivals.
It is the third defeat of Shooting Stars in the two teams’ seven clashes. Remo Stars are yet to lose to Shooting Stars.
The win takes the club , with 12 points back to the summit of the table, even with an outstanding away game with Enyimba.
After a cagey start, Remo Stars shot ahead in the 20th minute through Ahmed Akinyele, before top scorer candidate, Sikiru Alimi doubled the lead through a penalty kick in the 40th minute.
He increased the deficit for Shooting Stars when he scored the third goal in the 64th minute.
