For fairness and equity, the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Nigeria Premier Football League announced the postponement of all the matches initially slated for this weekend.

Consequently, all the matches will be played on Sunday 21 May.

It may not have been intended. But it symbolically marks the 119th anniversary of the founding of the world football governing body, FIFA.

The world body was founded on 21 May 1909 in Paris by six organisations – Football associations of Belgium, Denmark, France and the Netherlands as well as an athletics organisation, the Union des Societes Francaisses de Sports Athletiques and the Real Madrid Football Club.
