Fury and the Ukrainian fighter will put their respective WBC, IBF, WBO and WBA heavyweight titles on the line in what is set to be the most anticipated bout of 2023. Confirming the news on Friday afternoon, the British champion’s promoter Frank Warren declared his delight at finally managing to get the fight on.

He said: “Delighted to finally get this fight signed. This is the biggest fight that could possibly be made in our sport.

“The heavyweights always spark the imagination of the fans, and I have no doubt this will be the biggest boxing event of the century.” The fight will take place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as part of the city’s ‘entertainment season’ but no official date has yet been set.

Fury will be opening the season himself on Saturday, October 28 when he battles UFC champion Francis Ngannou in a bout which many are expecting the 35-year-old Wythenshawe boxer to win comfortably. For boxing fans, the fight with Usyk is one which has been talked about continuously as both men teased facing each other.
